Audio Skills

 All:

If you have completed all assignments for this marking period, we are going to take a couple days to let everyone catch up.  Today, I want you to check out the sites below and "play" around with the music creators you find there.  You can create beats, music, and use instruments and tools to transform sounds.  If you set up an account on Aviary you should be able to save and download your music.  Headphones are in the back of the room.  I might even have a prize for the best mix!!

I would like to start having some students "podcast" for the Jag Times.  Anyone interested in presenting articles and cutting in music, background sound, and sound effects can see me after class.  Enjoy today and tomorrow, and come in ready to work on Marketing Plans on Monday!!

As usual, have fun!!

MS Visio 2003 Mastery Project

Good Afternoon Everyone:

You are doing a fantastic job on the VISIO projects so far!!  Keep sending in the timelines, and make sure that your other assignments are up to date.  Today, before we dive into VISIO, I would like you to check out this website:   http://www.armstrong.com/flooring/design-a-room.asp?darScene=13&shortCode=&productCategory=

You may have to make minor adjustments and load some software for Firefox to get this to work, but it is a cool tool to get you into designing spaces.  This tool from Armstrong will help you design a space for yourself.  I would like you to design a kitchen.  Get an idea of different floors, cabinet colors and wall colors.  You will be buying furniture, cabinets, countertops, appliances and everything else that goes into the next project.  Get a good idea of space planning.  You will need rough measurements of a room in your home, or a room you might like when you have a home someday.  When you are finished with your dream kitchen please right click the picture of it and save it to your desktop.  Send me an email with the picture for credit for this part of the assignment.  Also send me 2-3 websites that have prices on all of the items you might want to include in this weeks Mastery Project.  We will move on to the MASTERY Project I want you to complete tomorrow and spend a couple weeks on it.

Think about the details!!

MS Visio 2003 Timeline Project

OK GANG!!

Here is an easy one.  Building on your growing knowledge of MS Visio 2003, please create a timeline of your life on earth.  Here are the steps to complete it:

Step 1:  Open MS Visio 2003 and click NEW project.  Create a new timeline using Project Schedule/Timeline/US Units.

Step 2:  Clear all items if anything "pops" up.  Right Click the Timeline and pick Properties.  Enter your birthday as the starting date and today as the ending date.

Step 3:  Add any significant event in your life to date.  You must use different milestone markers (Circles, Squares, Lines, or X's for different items.  Personal, School, Work, Family, Sports or anything else will be divided and labeled accordingly.  You must have at least 3 different types of milestones and at least 10 entries total (Not Including Beginning and End Dates)

Step 4:  As usual, save the file as a JPEG to your desktop and email it to your instructor.

3 points - Layout and Creativity
3 points - Completeness and Accuracy
1 point - Submitted on Time

Good Luck,

Mr. S

MS VISIO 2003 Web Page Map Project

Here are the instructions to complete the Web Page Map Project.

Step 1:  Pick a webpage you like.  Anything, just remember the more complicated the bigger and more intricate the project.

Step 2:  Sketch and outline of the webpage on scratch paper.  Just outline the major points of the home page.  Make notes of links, advertisement blocks, and other parts.  Get as detailed as possible, but I am not looking for specific content, just a layout of the home page.

Step 3:  Open MS Visio 2003 on our classroom laptops.  Open a NEW project.  Choose Web Diagram Conceptual (US units) and begin by opening a title block.  Drag the items you want to use to describe each section of your map and place descriptions inside. (See example of my map of the UCPA Jag Times site to right.)

Step 4:  Once finished, please save your work as a JPEG file to your desktop.  Send the file to me using your Gmail account.

Grading:

3 points - Design and Creativity
3 points - Accuracy and All Elements Present
4 points - Grammar and Accurate Layout

Good Luck,

Mr. S
