1.Add your grocery bill for the month 2.Add $150 to your budget for a Car Repair and Oil Change. 3.Add Health Insurance, Car Insurance to your budget. 4.If you did not add a vehicle to your initial budget, you need to find a car and insurance. 5.Get a pet:dog, cat, fish, snake, whatever….but budget for vet and care products 6.You are taking a class at a local college….add $1200 for tuition and $125 for books. 7.You went to the movies with your niece/nephew/child/etc…..add enough to cover popcorn and tickets. 8.You took first prize in a writing contest….add $100. 9.Add $50 per month for cell phone service 10.Find a bicycle for fun and add the cost to your budget 11.You went to the movies with a friend….add the cost. 12.You won the lottery……$150…scratch off..add to your budget 13.Your mom’s birthday is coming up…get her a gift….add it 14.You utility bills are 10% higher than you budgeted for…..add it
Finally, include at least 3 paragraphs in the body of your email on what you learned while keeping a budget and how this project might help you in the future.
Please use the handout to plan your menu for a week. I would like you to plan at least 2 dinners for 2 and a family dinner (6 people or more) for the weekend sometime. It can be breakfast, lunch, or dinner, but include anything you would normally serve. Once your menu is complete, make a grocery list. In addition to groceries, there is a list of other items (BELOW) that you will need to keep at your home. Detergent, soap, etc. You may also include any items you might actually use regularly to your shopping list. Finally, go to the website below and price everything you will need. You may need to make substitutions, but you will get a good general idea of prices for your weekly shopping trip. You will enter these figures on your monthly budget when you are finished as actual costs.
Download the document to Excel and Save It. Each Day you will have to save changes and email it to yourself. You can avoid emailing it by saving to a flash drive. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT YOUR COPY WILL STAY ON THE SYSTEM YOU ARE WORKING ON HERE IN CLASS. Final budgets will be due Friday at the end of class.
On the first page you will notice, it is a template for a family budget. Today you will be entering your basic startup information. You have a job in the Philadelphia Area. The job cards are being distributed. You must enter your information, find housing near your job, work out transportation, utilities and other information. Over the next few days you will get changes to your plan and have to adjust your budget to reflect the changes. Final budgets will be graded. Please complete the changes and email the final budgets to me on time (Friday).
Grading is as follows: Initial Budget Setup = 30 points
Changes Completed = 30 points
Final Presentation = 40 points
Final Presentations will need to include explanations to the class of where you live, what you spent money on, and how you saved and can tell the difference between expenses and discretionary income.

Grading is as follows:
The Public Service Announcement must use a minimum of 15 pictures or video clips
PSA must be no less than 1:00 minute in length and no more than 2:00 minutes in length
PSA must have smooth transitions between pictures
PSA must use at least one piece of music. If more, smooth transitions between sound bites
PSA must have at least 3 facts about your topic
PSA must be published as a movie file and viewable by Media Players

Step 1: Identify you primary customer and decide how they would want to hear your message.
Step 2: Write a story about your product, and what would make someone buy your product.
Step 3: Break down the story into "bite-size" parts.

Step 5: Write a Script or Narration of your message.
Step 6: Shoot Video, Find Pictures, and Get Background Music on your flash drives.
Step 7: Assemble your commercial's Parts
Step 8: Preview and Refine your commercial in MS Movie Maker
Step 9: Publish it and email it to Mr. Scribner
Be Creative, and Think Outside the Box. Do not create anything that uses vulgarity, profanity, or audio and video that is not allowed in school. You can use some animation if you like.
