We are postponing our Family Budget Program to focus on Entreprenuership.  Please follow the link to the Johnny Mony Simulator to the left and follow instructions to complete this assignment by Wednesday at the end of class.  We will start our family budgets next week!!  You will need the following codes to log in and start your businesses:

Personal Family Budget Prep Work

Today you will find at least one article on Personal Budgets and write a 3-4 paragraph email to me on why someone should keep a budget and how it can help you in the future.

Emails due in my INBOX by the end of class.  I am in my room later this afternoon for questions.

On the first page you will notice, it is a template for a family budget.  Today you will be entering your basic startup information.  You have a job in the Philadelphia Area.  The job cards are being distributed.  You must enter your information, find housing near your job, work out transportation, utilities and other information.  Over the next few days you will get changes to your plan and have to adjust your budget to reflect the changes.  Final budgets will be gradable.  Please complete the changes and email the final budgets to me on time. 

Grading is as follows:     Initial Budget Setup =   30 points
                                     Changes Completed =  30 points
                                     Final Presentation =      40 points

Final Presentations will need to include explanations to the class of where you live, what you spent money on, and how you saved and can tell the difference between expenses and discretionary income.

Quarterly Written Exam 11-10-09

Please answer the following questions in an email to me.  This will be graded and count toward your grades that go in on Thursday....

1.  Why do people use business cards?  What information should be on them and why?

2.  What is a resume?  Why use a cover letter? 

3.  What is a Public Service Announcement?  Why should it contain pictures, writing, and music?

4.  What is a stock?  Why trade stocks?  How much emergency money should you have in the bank before you invest?  What is the Dow Jones?

5.  What is a CPU?  What is a Hard Drive?  What is RAM?  What is a USB?

6.  What type of learner are you?  Left or Right Brain?  What does that help you understand about how you learn?

Public Service Announcement (PSA) Rubric

How will you be graded as a team?  Easy!!

Group Leaders will lead by example, keep thier team on track, and complete the assignment on time.  Team leaders are also responsible for emailing me a paragraph on how the team came up with the PSA Ideas!!

Grading is as follows:

     The Public Service Announcement must use a minimum of 20 pictures or video clips

     PSA must be no less than 1:00 minute in length and no more than 2:30 minutes in length

     PSA must have smooth transitions between pictures

     PSA must use at least one piece of music.  If more, smooth transitions between sound bites

     PSA must have at least 3-4 facts about your topic
    
     PSA must be published as a movie file and viewable by Media Players

Following is the grading outline:
          25 points for neatness (smooth transitions)
          25 points for completeness  (All items present)
          10 points for within time limits
          30 points for group response sheets evaluation
          10 points for leadership review by Mr. Scribner
